The Big Picture
Back in those early days, you couldn’t get squillions of bandwidth unless you had the dosh to match it. We did move from shared hosting to a dedicated server somewhere in the middle of America, but even then you didn’t have unlimited space. They were in one of the southern states and funnily enough turned out to be cowboys. Unless you coughed up a lot more, there was no room to expand. Which became a problem as players started to move to the quantity over quality business model and the subscriber expected a vast amount more for their buck. So the resolution of the images in our sets was originally very small so we could upload more, even though we shot them at a bigger size. Before we switched to a more sympathetic host, we decided to offer a bonus in the form of a “Big Picture”. These were images held back from the sets we posted and uploaded in their original format. A bit of value-added. Here are the first five.
