You Never Know!

Laura St John, white boots, mini, classically Sixties. Laura was of course part of the Ken Howard gang that proliferated in S&S in the late Sixties into the early Seventies. I’m assuming this is his photograph but with the heavy shadowing it’s not exactly a top professional job. Which, I must admit, was much of the modus operandi of ToCo Publications. I thought I’d post this here because I am currently a quarter way of a way through Tony Fletcher’s acclaimed biography of Who drummer Keith Moon, Dear Boy. What has that got to do with the lovely Laura, you might ask? Well, Moon’s first girlfriend and later wife, Kim (born Patsy) Kerrigan, was from Bournemouth, Howard’s old stamping ground. In 1964 (before the Howard era, admittedly), she was discovered by a local model agency, Dawn Academy. They found her local work, though of the fashion catalogue type. Kim was booked to do a shoot with a male model for a yachting magazine and Moon went berserk and wrecked the whole thing. Obviously there is no evidence of a Kim Kerrigan in S&S, but it got me thinking whether Dawn Academy (of which I can find nothing), if it was still in existence come 1967-ish, expanded its field into glamour, supplying the likes of Ken (Marilyn and Nicola, Liz Harvey perhaps?).
