Island Girl

Derek and Angie ran a small modelling agency in Newport on the Isle of Wight from their little house in a quiet estate which once was the home of the local prison officers. Angie was tall, slim, flame-haired and leggy, in her 40s. She modelled herself. Derek was a jovial chap, whose other passion was vintage buses and traction engines. Together they built up their agency representing amateur local girls of varying ages. One of them was the leather-jacketed doll featured here. I have lost her name, but something tells me it might have been Amber. She, like the other models in their books, was very natural and enthusiastic. These pictures were taken on a walk above the cliffs on the seafront with Derek acting as look-out. The spirit of iconic Spick and Span snapper Ken Howard just across the water was in the air.
