Sue Bond

Herewith the cover of the first edition of the short-lived Cutie Capers pocket books. The girl in the foreground is Sue Bond. She appeared in another issue of CC, getting out of her clothes into her swimsuit with the other model on a deserted beach somewhere, the pictures probably taken on the same day. Sue was one of those actresses who posed for dubious photos before going onto film and TV. The most notable in this country was of course Shirley Ann Field, who appeared in the very first copies of Spick and Span, but went on not to be typecast, unlike Sue Bond. Sue’s roles seemed to be picked on the basis of two things (no prizes for guessing what they were). She was, surprise surprise, a Hill’s Angel for a period; she showed up in George and Mildred and Mind Your Language; and her film parts included a soft-core flick masquerading as art-house movie called Bizarre, in which she played a hooker (surely not), and Lindsay Anderson’s O Lucky Man, where she was a stripper (unbelievable). I quite liked her. If she is still with us, she’d be in her 80s now.
