Rendezvous
Rendezvous was one of a plethora of contact magazines that mushroomed in the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties. It was arguably the most professionally put together and lasted a good long time. It was published out of Nottingham and its editor and founder always wrote impassioned editorials. It was primarily aimed at swingers, but singles seeking “companionship” were invited to take out ads. Funnily enough, single ladies were given preference at the front of the mag (including on the cover). Unlike couples and males, they were able to advertise for free. There was a good reason for this. Rendezvous was a good home for those ladies who would otherwise seek “companionship” by putting ads in phone boxes. In no way did the publisher/founder wish to be accused of inadvertently living off the proceeds of immoral earnings. Anyway, Rendezvous was also a vehicle for persons wishing to try their hand at a certain type of photography. Here is one such incitement published in February 1981. Who knows whether “extras” could be negotiated.
