Rendelsham

Spick and Span connoisseurs will know the second Scottish photographer Shaw had his favourite spots for his outdoor shoots, which became something iconic. I think I’m right in saying some sleuth north of the border has identified the exact locations. Shaw’s successor on the south coast, Ken Howard, also used a couple of places, possibly in the New Forest, but not so frequently. When Spick and Span 2000 and later Beautiful Brits got under way it was imperative to find somewhere to reflect the old mags’ photo spreads in an up-to-date setting. One of the places I alighted upon was Rendelsham Forest between Woodbridge and Orford Ness on the Suffolk Coast. There were plenty of spots to tuck yourself out of the way, though you had to keep an eye out for walkers. I went there several times, but you are talking 15 to 20 years ago. From left to right are Cassie, Sammi, Jamie, Wendy and Sherri. There was often a nice lunch to be had afterwards in a local hostelry.
