The Shaw Puzzle 2
Following Sands’ comment reflecting on Shaw identity possibilities, I thought I’d reframe my own thoughts, which are not new. Shaw had a large detached house with a spacious garage in Bearsden, one of the wealthiest suburbs in the whole country. He was obviously not short of a bob or two (which I cannot think would not have been a major attraction for his models). I don’t think he would have been on his way up the ladder, but possibly at the top. I would wager he was retired (and the kids’ toys were for grandchildren). Rosanne Stuart pictured here was not the only girl to have been pictured in the master bedroom window. (Interesting the dressing room stool, featured in other pictures in its rightful place, has a polythene wrap). This was obviously done during daylight hours. If I had my investigative journalist’s hat on, I would start at Bearsden Tennis Club. He evidently had access to it inside and out as we’ve seen with the likes of the Kent sisters and Louise Crawford. Was he a luminary of the club, a committee member, captain or even president? Seems he could come and go as he pleased when it wasn’t open. I have often thought about contacting the club to request going through their early 1960s archive or register, but then I would probably have to blag a reason. I would guess we’d find our man there. I have no idea what the club made of his photographic exploits on their premises (I’m sure they must have known), but perhaps they had no say in the matter!
