The Big Picture

Truth is the pictures were very small. But back in the day they were labelled as big. In the days of Spick and Span 2000 and the beginnings of Beautiful Brits — we are talking 25-plus years ago — you were very limited on what you could place on your server depending on the fee you paid. The digital cameras of the time, certainly the cheapest models, didn’t permit you a great deal of scope. We sized our images down to 480x640 pixels, then 563x750, which took up very little space. But when BB was launched, we introduced a feature called The Big Picture when every day we uploaded a different pic from sets we had shot at the massive size of 768x1024 pixels. One of the sets we selected pics from was this one featuring blonde Kylie and brunette Maxine. It was shot at a studio in Woodbridge, Suffolk, run by a guy called Carl who provided the models. Maxine was earning a few bob modelling while a student at Essex University, while Kylie (not her real name) was a single mum who had a job at a print firm. Kylie would go on to model more or less fulltime, including for myself. She was a very self-confident and bright young lady which comes across in her pictures. But she was drawn down a path I suspect she’d rather not look back on. Tap on the pic and on each subsequent one to see the full gallery.
