Nicola

Time for another ToCo Publications post. It is my humble opinion Anne Scott and Nicola Taylor were the heartbeat of Spick and Span; they are the two models who come immediately to my mind when I think of S&S. Nicola was probably the more prolific and straddled the two decades from the Sixties to the Seventies, admittedly when the magazines were beginning to look more and more of an anachronism. Certainly, she seemed more important to Ken Howard than Anne did to Shaw. Without Nicola, it is doubtful Ken would have made such a mark on Spick and Span. I uploaded a post about Anne earlier, so here’s one on Nicola. In this shot, as in others, Nicola has donned her hairpiece, which doesn’t really do her any favours. Whose idea that was we can only speculate. Nicola is also wearing a pair of stockings which have also been seen on Marie Graham’s legs. Here they look ridiculously short. Finally, I cannot think of any other Ken Howard picture that was taken in a bedroom. Maybe Nicola was Mrs Howard after all, as many people have claimed.
