Another from the contact sheet box and another Shaw starlet, Joan Glover. She was one of the earlier Shaw discoveries — to this day I would love to know how he did it. Again she was considered dispensable (or did she just sling her hook?). The brief longevity of all the Shaw girls, I continue to say, is a real puzzle. This picture (one of Joan’s first?) shows how technically inept Shaw was. Heavy shadow, result of poor lighting, and one foot cut off would not cut it professionally. Not that anyone was unduly worried.
