Freeze Frame
Back in the day when VHS was the highest form of tech available, one of the back-page-ad blokes churning out tapes was Elvin Mills, who operated under the name E.L.M Video. Elvin invested a considerable amount in kit with, it must be said, not exactly a great return. One of the things he lavished expense on was a device by Sony which enabled you to print out freeze frames from your films. He kindly brought it around to my flat and hooked it up to my player. It required special Sony photographic paper which was about the size of a postcard, but the resultant image did not fill the entire space. It was slightly adaptable. You could pack four images on one sheet, each one the size of a postage stamp. This scan is from one such image and as you can see doesn’t exactly lend itself to being blown up. The model’s name was Mandy and the location was Bushey Park in West London. Those were the days.
